Leading up to the weeks/days before my birthday this year, I was overcome by a mild depression and it was for reasons I usually experience during this time: reflecting on what I've accomplished in my life, thinking 'oh my lord I can't believe I'm a year closer to 30,' etc. etc.

As kids we grow up to think quite highly of birthdays:  parents spoil us rotten and the principal announces it on the P.A. system, making us feel extra important for that one school day. Maybe I was holding onto that memory. But when the day came around, I stopped feeling mop-ey and instead created this somewhat nostalgic, feel-happy playlist. Walking all over the city with it cranked made me feel pretty damn good about turning 29.
